Where the Brand Began

Long before there was a bottle, a label, or even a name, there was curiosity, and a healthy amount of frustration.

For Amy Holmwood, that frustration came from decades spent working in wellness, nutrition, and science-based product development. Her career has always lived at the intersection of what we consume and how it affects us, both immediately and over time.

As consumers became more intentional about food, skincare, supplements, and sustainability, one category stood out as oddly untouched by that shift: spirits.

Vodka was vodka. Gin was gin. Artificial flavors were normalized. Additives were rarely discussed. Transparency was optional.

Amy wasn’t interested in reinventing drinking culture. But she was deeply interested in asking better questions about it.

Instead of beginning with flavor trends or marketing angles, the brand began with formulation.

Amy partnered with renowned chemists and distillation experts, approaching spirits the same way thoughtful wellness products are built - with discipline, restraint, and respect for ingredients.

The goal wasn’t to make grand promises or chase “better-for-you” claims. It was to explore what was possible when spirits were crafted using real plant botanicals, chosen for their balance, complexity, and long history of use across cultures.

Why It’s Called Origen (and Why It’s Spelled That Way)

The name Origen is intentionally spelled differently because it was created for people who drink differently.

The spelling reflects that shift.

Origen was never meant to be another flavored vodka.

It’s a botanical vodka infused with elderberry, muscadine grape, green tea, and artichoke - plants selected not for trend appeal, but for their depth, history, and harmony when brought together.

When Woody Harrelson joined as a co-founder, the vision expanded naturally. A longtime advocate for plant-based living and environmental responsibility, Woody shared the same belief: what we consume should align with our values, not contradict them.

Different backgrounds. Shared principles.

Together, they built a spirits company rooted in transparency, sustainability, and progress - without sacrificing flavor, enjoyment, or the social rituals that bring people together.

That philosophy later gave rise to Harmony Gin, a gin that honors tradition while expanding it. Classic botanicals meet the same holistic plant foundation, resulting in a spirit that’s balanced, expressive, and versatile.
